Have you been receiving form entries with temporary email addresses? We hear you. Well, we haven’t been able to do it ourselves, but we’ve found the perfect tool to block those disposable email addresses on WordPress.

Meet Clearout Email Validator.

We’ve tested it, it works really well with Ninja Forms! Basically, it’s a plugin that runs 20+ validation tests on your email field. You can block any disposable email addresses, block free email addresses if you want to (Gmail, Yahoo), and even accept business emails only!

To get started, make sure you have:

  1. Ninja Forms plugin
  2. Clearout Email Validator plugin

Create your free account on Clearout.io

The Clearout plugin will need an API token, which you can get by creating an account on Clearout.io (no credit cards needed). Once you’re logged in, go to Apps > Create App.

create app in clearout

A pop-up will appear. Choose Server, name your app. Then click Create.

You’ll see the API token. Copy it, then go back to your WordPress site.

Set up the Clearout Email Validator plugin

Go to Settings > Clearout Email Validator (make sure you’ve activated the plugin). Copy and paste your API token.

Now you can start setting up your validator!

By default, the plugin will block role-based addresses (admin@something.com), disposable addresses (@mailinator.com). You can allow either or both by checking the checkboxes in the settings. Another setting that you can do is accept only business addresses, which will override all the other settings. This is what I choose for this demonstration.

Next, if you scroll down, you’ll see where a list of forms that you can apply the validation to. Choose ‘Ninja Forms’ to apply it to your form.

And that’s it! Now if you test your form, it will approve only email business addresses. Below, I tried to input a Gmail address, and the form won’t submit, giving me the message ‘This email address is invalid or not allowed – please check.’
